Day 82 - Golf Later?
I feel like it's getting easer and easier as days go by. Well, I mean, it should right?
I got my inspiration from Dribbble . I've always wanted to create a landing page but felt it was only achievable through Illustrator or Photoshop. I still feel that if I wanted detailed visual design, the best tools would be within the Adobe softwares. However, Sketch would be the best tool to put all the visual design elements together to create the website mockup.
I decided to choose this design to recreate because I wanted to see if I was able to create the visual design through Sketch. It was a lot easier than I thought. First, I had to create the grid using squares, then duplicating them. For the image, I had to use a mask the image onto a big square. Then place the square grids on top, adjusting the colour and gradient for each of the squares to create the effect.
As for the text "The Home Of Moden Gold Awaits", I used the font Helvetica, with a weight of Bold and at a size of 45. To increase readability for the main text, I adjusted the character spacing and line to 14 and 84. As for the paragraph text, I used font Big Caslon. The reason for this is because it's to align with the Golf Centre's brand. I wanted it to look a bit fancy and classy.
I think for the next couple days, I'm going to challenge myself to create some detailed visual designs for landing pages on Sketch. It'll definitely take up more time, but I feel I should explore the different tools to create more abstract ideas instead of fixating only on a structured layout/grid.
